Differences between the versions

Although it is often stated that there are no real differences between the american and the european version we found several differences between the two versions. We will update this list as soon as we find more differences.

 Official differences

Arcade difficulty
The US version allows the player to select the "arcade difficulty" when a new game ist started. The user can choose between "easy", "normal", "hard" and "very hard" mode. The selection has direct consequences on the effectiveness of the players own weapons and the amount of damage the enemies and monsters will achieve when attacking the player.
It is important to note that the arcade difficulty cannot be changed once the game has been started so to change it the player is forced to start a new game from the start again.

Adventure difficulty
The second official change is that the player must now select the "adventure difficulty" at the beginning of the game. This mode can be changed within the game and has been integrated in the european version before within the game settings as "automatic object select" option.

Different logos
Interplay also added their own logo right before the Gremlin Interactive logo when starting the game. The original logo of the game was changed by Interplay not only on the package and on the website but also in the intro movie.

 Unofficial differences

Savegame problems
If you played the european version and want to load these saved games in the US version you will find that it is impossible. The game engine will not even display your savegames! We assume that this is because of the arcade mode setting which was not available in the european version.

EXE file differences
EU version: "Version 3.925"
US version: "Version 3.983"

If you have a different version (maybe in your own language) we would be glad to hear from you.
